Our recommendation
Historical circular trail – hiking and learning!
The Taunus Information Centre is your starting point for the historic circular trail around six kilometres long – one of the Taunus hiking trails that combines exercise with exciting information on seven information boards along the way. A cannon marker indicates the direction of the trail from the Oberursel Hohemark via the former Camp King of the US Army, past the Custine Schanzen and back to the starting point. Pay special attention to the two giant sequoia trees, which were probably planted in 1848.
Many paths lead to the Hausberg circular trail – let time decide
On foot
If the journey is the destination, you can walk from the elaya hotel oberursel across town to the starting point of the historic circular trail. You will reach the Taunus Information Centre in around one and a half hours.
By car
The Taunus Information Centre at the Oberursel Hohemark is just a 15-minute drive from the elaya hotel oberursel. And best of all, you can start hiking the historic circular trail right from the car park.
By public transport
You will need a little more time – at least 30 minutes – to get from the hotel to Hohemark station by public transport. You can either take the U3 from Oberursel (Taunus)-Bommersheim to Hohemark or take bus 43 from Oberursel (Taunus) Hammergarten to the U3 station Oberursel (Taunus)-Weißkirchen Ost and continue on the U3 to Hohemark station. The difference: without the bus, you have a slightly longer walk to the underground, but with the bus you walk less but take longer. If time is not an issue, bus 42 will take you from Oberursel (Taunus) Hammergarten to Oberursel (Taunus) An der Waldlust station. From there, it’s about a ten-minute walk to the start of the hike.
